Hi, While Dbpoweramp might be a better choice, you should be able to use WMP 11.
I use WMP 11 myself and have ripped +500 CD's to Windows Medio Audio Lossless (WMA Lossless), without problems. Are you sure it is connected to internet while ripping?, also make sure that you have enabled "automatic update of medioinformation from internet" under settings in WMP 11. I only had problems finding information on a few, mostly Dansih, albums and You might experience the same with a few Dutch albums. After ripping You will see that not all tags (information) is perfect, for this i reccomend that you use MP3Tag (freeware, donate).
