I still don't know why WMP 11 didn't work to pick up media information or album art in the first place. It would rip, but as unknown artist, unknown album, no track names, no art -- nothing.
I am connected to the Internet at all times, and I set WMP 11 to search the Internet when I started to rip. It's bugging me. Am I doing something fundamental the wrong way? One thing -- I have a stripped-down laptop, so I use an external CD re-writable / DVD RW-R drive to do my rips. The drive works fine to play CDs, DVDs, and to download from. So that fact that it's external should not matter. I can't think of anything else that I might be doing wrong. TIA.
