I think ripping software really is a matter of preference. The money
spent was worth it for me.

EAC was not that great back when I was using it. I can't say it made a
mess like the previous poster did. It just left a lot of blanks that I
needed to fill in. Most of the messes I've had to clean up in the past
were more a result of my lack of understanding in setting up my tags
than software.

However, EAC did make it challenging in not allowing for cover image
retrieval (presumably fixed now) in either a folder.jpg or embedded
form. It also didn't do on the fly RG calcs. I'm not sure it does
now.

As for the money aspect. Paying for software is something that I don't
mind doing if it makes my life easier. My time is worth enough that the
$20 for dbpa doesn't really hurt me. I had actually donated to Andre in
the past for EAC, too. Many independent programmers are worth
supporting if the software is useful enough.

When it comes to the more thorough ripping modes, EAC is still tops.
Fortunately, I rarely need those modes.
