On with the endless ripping.... So now I know how to sort out this problem, but it would be much better if I could stop it happening in the first place. With so many CDs to rip, having to mess around with MP3tag isn't good.
EAC, as far as I can tell, should be outputting the "CD Artist" field to "albumartist" but isn't. I can't see any way of getting it to create a "compilation" field and set it to 1. The clear/rescan solution is producing very inconsistent results. When I first did it, I'd re-tagged one album to test, but it sorted out all of the problem albums. Another clear/rescan yesterday left lots of albums showing each track as a separate album. So it seems getting the tags right is the only way to make this work consistently, but I need a more streamlined way of doing it. Also, are there any good online tagging tutorials around? With such a large database I need a more efficient way of cleaning up the tags: I know it can be done but for a newbie it's tough to work out.
