I know its probably academic but are all the people complaining of slowness (it is slow to be fair) checking to make sure they have 32bit transfers, DMA, X66+ and read-ahead etc ON? as root hdparm -t -T /dev/hda That will do a speed test. Anything less than 12.02 on a UDMA 33 HD/Mobo, 333mhz+ with 196mb SDRAM is SLOW and you probably need to set up your disk tweaks. Also, it wont remember your settings when you log out. So you need to go to http://www.linuxnewbie.org/nhf/intel/hardware/hdtweak.html and have a look see at that little reference. :O) L.
