It's true that I'm no longer interested in working on a platform where either my mouse or my video card gets broken by a kernel upgrade, and sound is so damn hard to get working that I almost never actually use it. So I'd like to be able to seriously tell my musician friends that they can take a look at this sequencer I work on. As it is now, I just can't, and the situation *can't* improve, because nobody can get all the kernel devs, distro makers, alsa, jackd, fluidsynth and KDE devs in one place and tell them to actually work together. I'm sorry you're reacting this way, because it really bothers me to see you spending so much time on documenting and explaining all the intricacies of "how to get sound" while that question shouldn't even have to be asked at all. And I don't see you having a great deal of fun doing it either. -- Guillaume http://telegraph-road.org ------------------------------------------------------------------------- This SF.net email is sponsored by the 2008 JavaOne(SM) Conference Don't miss this year's exciting event.
