Not being able to sleep at 3:00am this morning on the West Coast, I read an
article about diesel locos that got me to thinking about our scale. Everything
that I've read states that the EMD SD40-2 was the most popular and possibly the
best designed diesel to date. If this is true, I'm curious as to why the loco
has never been made by one of our three major S scale manufacturers. I know
that Overland made a brass model, but a less expensive plastic model has not
been offered as far as I can tell. I would think that this diesel would satisfy
most of the early(?) diesel lovers as well as the more "modern" s gaugers. As
far as anyone knows, has there been any discussion in the past about producing
this diesel? Would there be a market for such an apparent popular diesel? Your
thoughts( when you wake up)?
