Hi All ---
A critical part of making speakers sound good is the enclosure. The "back"
side of the speaker must not be allowed access to open air, or its
"negative" waves interfere with the "positive" sound waves from the front of
the speaker. I think the PFM speakers were so good because of how well
they were sealed. If you use several small speakers under the fans, you
need to solidly seal them on the other "down" side -- usually a sheet
styrene box with dividers between the speakers and glued to the inside of
the shell should make a big difference in sound quality. Some speaker
perveyors have matching enclosure kits or pre-enclosed speakers (like
Soundtraxx).
Have fun!

John, I was able to find a small quantity of the PFM edgeport type
speakers and they are great sounding--I don't know why, perhaps the
metal sounding box.
