Having had train sound since Onboard Analog sound in 1984, the PFM edge
port speakers produce very poor sound. I have had a both styles. I
bought them when they were the "hot" setup. They don't have an
enclosure and very small speakers.
Enclosing the speaker is the most important thing in a sound
installation. The bigger the better. Most commercial enclosures are too
small. It is better to take the time to fabricate a larger enclosure.
The GP-9 installation would be better if there was a physical way of
extending the soundbox into the shell. There are better speakers with
greater frequency range sold by electronics houses like Mouser than by
the sound people.
