A caution for people building modules. In my experience the chance for track damage during transport and setup is high, far better to use all wood ties and metal spikes to enable repairs. I've found repair to plastic tie trackwork much more difficult. For sure make the 2-4 inches at the end of the module on wood ties, the ends are more likely to be damaged than the middle of a module. Regarding plastic tie plates, I believe that Jim King is planning to make them. Don't know if they include spikes. Ted Larson

The tie plates available now are too tedious to install and spike down (for me anyway). Styrene would be a plus so that solvent cement could be used for attachment as opposed to ACC needed for resin (Tomalco makes resin tie plates that I have tried). > Roger Nulton > Yahoo!
