Credit Don Thompson with this:

 

Touch a small soldering iron to the seams and it welds the box together.  

I tried it and it works great.  Don't try glue.  Super glue seeps in by
capillary action and may destroy the centering spring  motion.

The only thing I might add - try using a bit of plastic cement applied
with the point of a pin to tack weld the covers, or even Crazy Glue
