Smoky Mountain Model Works' SR low side gondola model "KIT"
continues to amaze me! It being such a "regional" car and unique to
the Southern Railway makes it even more amazing! The total sales of
this one model, alone has reached 180 (Roman and Block font
combined) (it will be 182 once I order the two extra kits I want).

John:
You must have really taken some flak offlist about this matter
because you seem to me very defensive in your post. I don't seem to
remember any nay-sayers posting on the list about this project. In
fact, I thought most folks like me were excited about a new flavor
of car and the availability of a new kit. If you did get grief,
that is really too bad and is disappointing to me.
Even though I am a 1950s SP modeler, I welcome and purchase non-SP
road cars such as the 1940s version of the gondola. I have seen and
read many arguments about road vs. home cars on several lists and
while people disagree on the exact numbers, there is agreement that
the major railroads had a significant number of offline cars on the
home rails at any one time. So bring on the new models. If a car
ran in national service in the 1950s, you can chalk me up for a
purchase.
BTW, I built two gondola kits and really enjoyed the experience.
They are well engineered and easy to construct. So tell SMMW to
keep those Southern S Scale cars a' coming.
OK, back to our regularly scheduled discussion topic that seems to
come up at least once a year S scale couplers.
