John,

Have you used any of the Central Valley HO stuff? I put together
about 20 feet of it one day at a friend's house. That's all it took
for me to say "nice detail, but too much work". The little clips that
you bend over the rails didn't do the best job of holding the rail in
place. Several times while handling 3' pieces of assembled track that
the rails would pop out - VERY FRUSTRATING. I tend to think gluing
the rails with Barge cement (the old way of doing it) would make for
better trackwork in the long run. I didn't see enough difference
between Micro Engineering's flextrack and the CV product to warrant
the extra effort. Even though the CV product is 1/3rd the price per
foot of the ME stuff, my friend chose the ME product.

Tomalco already provides a ME-quality line of flextrack for S scale,
so that's what I'll be using. On the other hand, I've yet to find
even a moderately detailed S scale turnout. As Pieter Roos said, a
CV-style turnout product for S scale would DEFINITELY catch my
attention...
