Darrell,

They will stay streached, they won't or may not retract to the beginning shape.
It is pretty much a trying to soften them and then allow them to lay straight
in order to reuse them.

I have been following your thread with interest, I think I have seen these
engines in the 5 to 9 dollar range at one of the local toy stores.
What are you going to use for tenders?

  Gale,

Out of curiosity, just what happens when you pull on the parts while
  they are hot?

vinyl gloves it might leave fingerprints otherwise ( and watch the
texture surface on the gloves too)

together a few of the resin kits. The PBL Seargent sandhouse was
straightforward (modified to fit the site). The Arkansas Valley
section car house is a good design, but most of the parts had warped,
some too badly to be used. The Design Tech section car shed is THE
BEST resin kit I have ever seen. If you ever have a chance to acquire
and use a Design Tech kit, DO IT. Unfortunately, he no longer does S
(and maybe no longer does kits in any scale), but what he did make is
spectacularly well done. My kit dates back to Jan 1995...
