Tonight I finished installing new feeder wires to my convention project.
Since I was not able to attend the convention this year, I decided I should
dedicate some of the time I would have spent at the convention to completing a
project on the layout.  I have a 45" radius curve on the layout that is
super-elevated and has easements on both ends.  I originally used flex track
through the curve but was unhappy with the transitions into the super
elevations on each end.  My project began on the Saturday before the convention
started when I pulled up the flex track and jigged up and glued down over 12
running feet of ties through the curve and it's approaches.  Sunday began the
sanding of the ties to get the transitions correct.  Monday I re-stained the
ties after work and Wednesday night I began spiking down the rail.  I wrapped
up the project on Sunday and had the main back in operation by mid-day.  The
end results are great.  Money spent on the convention (zero)  Vacation days
burned (zero)  Watching a brace of
  SD40-2s pulling a long double stack train through a hand-laid super-elevated
curve with easements in S Scale.....Priceless.
