Not sure what you want the cars for but my research indicated the NYC replaced 
the wood sides with steel almost immediately after the war.  Depending on what 
years you are modeling, if you want these for the NYC, you may already have 
what you need.  I modeled NYC cars with steel sides for the early 50's and then 
did a wood sided version in CRI&P.  The Rock Island had so little money they 
kept the wood sides for a long time!
