Tom: I cut up HO cars for my Sn3 railroad all the time. AHM  makes several cars
that I consider too big for HO but they make a correct length car for Sn3. I
only have to widen them 6-12" scale. I do that under the floor walk and no one
sees the cut. I also replace the end for the width I want.

Athearn makes a 2 bay hopper that is real close to the EBT one. Stewart
Ind. makes a U-channel 55 ton hopper that works for Sn3.

I have cut up a SHS outside braced 40' box car to make a pipe gondola similar
to what the Rio Grande did. Measure up 4' from the bottom and cut off the top &
ends.

Mostly I use HO decals to make cars that I like with capy, weight, etc. in S.

"HO" RR cars like the G&D not selling in S illustrates the fact that most S
gaugers don't see themselves as part of the wider world of model railroading.

Sumus quod sumus, and these messages aren't going to change anybody, but FWIW,
I have S scale cars in my fleet lettered Hogsback & Southern (local HO club),
the Nehi Route (local On3 RR), Great Lakes Central (Saginaw HO RR), as well as
several of the NMRA heritage series, and the Great Gulch & Yahoo Car (Model
Railroader magazine 40th Aniversary Car).
