What I garnered from the collective wisdom displayed here (at least what I can
understand and work with!) will hopefully help me to get my photos accepted for
publication:

- Set up the shot with the same considerations that I used when shooting images
with film (several of which were published), i.e.: smallest aperture, proper
lighting, exposure, etc.;

- Use the widest angle focal length;

- Set my digital camera to the highest quality JPG setting (on mine it’s “extra
fine”);

- Save the images on my computer as TIFFs using my Corel photo program if I am
going to manipulate them, otherwise leave them as JPGs;

- Save them on to a disc prior to submittal to a publication.

My intention is not to submit to the majors (MRR and RMC). I’ll leave that to
those who are much more skilled than I. But I would like to see S represented
in some of the local and smaller mags.

I join “String Bob” in thanking all who have contributed to this discussion.
Hopefully others have found it useful too. If I am off base on any of the
above, please correct me!

Thanks,
Roger Nulton

Subject: {S-Scale List} Re: Cameras

Thanks to all who have so patiently tried to answer my questions concerning
various aspects of digital photography. Contrary to how it may appear, I
actually did learn something from the discourse.

A lot of it is still over my head, but I believe, as surely and timely as the
Colorado River carved the Grand Canyon, that it will all fall together someday.

I never realized how hard it is to draw a straight line until I tried to do it
with a computer, nor how hard it is to take a picture until I tried it with a
digital camera.

You guys have the ball half way down the field while I'm still trying to figure
out what page you're on!
