Roger, ie. grasshopper,  You have learned much!

I think you'll be fine with those concepts.  Two thoughts that you might 
consider 1) don't be afraid of zooming in and away from wide angle when 
it suits you--and many times that's a gut feeling.  Including too much 
in a shot can ruin it. &2) Along with that don't be afraid of letting 
the background get soft if it's not important.  A background of a forest 
might just look fine way out of focus as long as the subject matter (the 
hero) is sharp.  You'll find that stretching your technical know-how 
will now start blending with the creative part of your mind--hopefully a 
good thing!
