Dick, Thanks for the plan number. That is precisely what I needed.
Thanks to Google I turned up some pics of the car and of the NYC
variant. Looks like the car had a stepped roof for the AC ducting.
The model currently has a clerestory roof. Maybe I can get an AM roof
from one of his Pullmans to work as a replacement. I'd hate to build
that roof with the AC ducting from scratch.

Rollie is correct but confusing. The subject diner's prototype is
Pullman-Standard Plan 3952 (built in 1924-25). Nineteen of these were
  built and
variously assigned to general service (Pullman pool), ACL, and SR. NYC
  had
similar, but with an extra kitchen window. When Miller was in
  business, I had
an O scale buddy who got Miller to make him a special NYC diner kit
  with the
  extra window.

Pullman Plan 4004 (built in 1931-32) is similar but not identical to
  3952.
Major difference is the kitchen service door is not on the kitchen
  side, but
rather is a standard vestibule door across the passenger corridor from
  the
kitchen. There were 17 of these in pool service, later assigned to NH
  and
  others.
