I think you are talking about Robert Zenk in Mainline Modeler about 1980.

Note that air-condition ducts on clerestory cars were over spaces occupied by 
passengers. You would not find them over corridors, lockers, or similar spaces. 
On a diner, for example, the dining room was air-conditioned but not the 
kitchen or the corridor alongside the kitchen.

The three American Models 85-foot cars have the same roof, but it is correct 
for one car only.
