    Hi Don, The Harlem Transfer terminal in New York used 90 foot radius on 
their freight house loop which would be slightly less than 17 inch radius in S 
scale. Your 20 inch curves would be about right for the Harlem second track 
loop which was 106 feet radius. :>)
  So if anyone wants to build a truly prototypical S scale layout in a small 
space there's a prototype waiting to be modeled. A perfect scene for coal 
hoppers, reefers, boxcars,flats, gondolas, etc. and only one 44 tonner needed 
for motive power.  ....dave
