Yes, but...  What you suggest seems eminently reasonable, but there is 
something more convincing and compelling about a structure
for which there is a real prototype, even if the individual kit builder makes 
some alterations in construction.  The series of freelanced
structures drawn in the NMRA Bulletin over the past several years never look 
quite right to me: sort of plausible but nothing that
really grabs my attention.
