Study any kit or plan. Do not rush in. If the kit is well thought out (like BTS kits). Saltillo is finished Orbisonia 1/3, Others in nice boxes. ( except for the EBT Sn3 EBT Caboose for which I have been holding my breath for 9 years). The blood pressure medication handles that.
Years ago I took on a model for Cleveland State University. Plans furnished included most existing and proposed buildings. BUT none of the adjacent structures consisting of 1/4 of downtown Cleveland. I got aerial photos, Fire maps, and photos of each building (front only). No one complaied. They still use it. (40 + years) Then there were the architects who wanted a model in a month. 3 1/2 weeks later they give you the plans. Maybe videos on building a simple structure or at least a good how to do it book?
