If a person wishes to model the era beyond 1985 or so, then locomotives and
rolling stock not currently being produced are needed. At some point
manufacturers will have to take note of that. If one models eras from the
Forties to the Seventies, one might get along with what is already out there.

Of course, if one needs an SP Daylight engine or a GN bellpaire-boilered O-5
Mike, then a funeral might come before the product. As for me, enough is out
there now to bankrupt me. I can only purchase so much product during any given
year. Right now I probably have a sufficient number of box cars with about 28
PRS kits remaining to assemble.

Although I model the CGW in October 1953, I'll never be able to operate those
six-unit freights of storied fame. It is also true, however, that the outfit
operated fruits with A-B and A-B-a lashups during the same era as its famous
six-unit lashups, and that's where I come in. I have only a space 14'22', not
enough for 100 car freights.

Except for the occasional--if one ever shows up--Milwaukee Road ribbed box car,
I have all the freight cars my layout can handle. Some of the cars I want I
can convert from PRS kits, such as the PS-0 I've started.

Point is I'm having fun and satisfy some intellectual curiosity at the same
time. So, to all you folks out there, keep at it.

Tom
