   And GS steam locos are also not absolutely necessary to model the SP. A mid  
1950's era branch line like the Santa Cruz could be modeled completely 
prototypically with 4 plastic GP9's and 2 cupola cabooses. I would not be 
surprised to find that GS streamliners never set foot on the branch although I 
did see an SD45 and a tunnelmotor over here in later years, and today all one 
needs is one old GP20 and a few freight cars to be correct. 
  Most modelers don't have the space for a convincing representation of 
mainline operations anyway so smaller locos and shorter trains simplifies the 
design decisions.....dave
