Good Morning,
My Friday night fun included a visit from my folks who are up to see
the Grand Kids and maybe me I guess. Dad brought an F-7 ABA set of SHS Santa
Fe war bonnets to shake down on the layout and an E.L. F-7 AB unit that were
won on e-bay that will go into M.P. jenks blue paint at some point. He also
surprised me with 3 fast tracks turnouts that will make up the remainder of my
yard ladder in coming months. Also included in the care package were 5 #8 fast
tracks frogs that I am going to attempt to drop into existing old pullman #8
turnouts on the layout. This will allow much smoother operation of both the
code 110 wheels and the code 88 wheels which look really nice by the way. We
set one of the new frogs on top of the existing #8 on the layout and it looked
like a fairly simple removal and install. The old pullman frogs are already
isolated for DCC so I will just un-spike it and lift it out. It was good to
see the old man had
been toiling away on track work over the last couple of weeks.
We spent several hours running various trains including a 20 car stack train,
"The Texas Special" , "The Texas Chief" , and a 20 car mixed freight.
We are heading over to the Longview, TX train show today. Fellow S scalers
John Darling, along with Terry and Kent Bork from the Dallas area usually come
to the show so it will be good to see those guys again.
Off to the train room,
Danny
