Jace, I was talking about the recent and current production of Atlas, MTH and
Lionel locos with CHINA DRIVES. This is the reason Sunset
jumped into the O market with plastic diesels and a horizontal drive system.
Scot saw an opporunity and took it.

No, I was not referring to the late 1980's and 1990's produced P&D's, Red
Caboose or Weaver locos. Those are great locos. I was talking about what could
be purchased new today and recently, RTR, like we do in S scale with SHS, AM
and other mfgs.

The Atlas SW switcher was/is offered with a horizontal drive and is one of the
finest running and looking switchers in any scale. But, Atlas refused to put
this drive in any other 2R offering. Had they done so I'd lay odds Sunset would
not be producing the E7's today.

Atlas bought the GP9 from Red Caboose and put a 3R drive in it. They bought the
P&D F units and put a 3R drive in it. Both of these models, by the original
owners were top drawer and both models by Atlas are great looking, but Atlas
dumbed them down with a 3R drive and a few other 3R compromises. And, when
asked about putting a horizontal drive in the 2R versions they gave an emphatic
"NO" which they certainly have the right to do.

So, I think Sunset could do very well if their E7 comes in okay. There is a
market for a good RTR 2R diesel in O scale with horizontal drive.
