OK
I just checked my Starrett calipers with a ¼ machinists check block. It measured .2495 The SHS rail on my flex track IS .138 to .140 I checked the rail on my sectional starter set track that is significantly older. It is .136. From what I know about extruding it is a very accurate process given others are replaying with .131. How these variances are happening is not known to me. Nonetheless in the spirit of the original question I feel that .010+ is not an acceptable difference in rail height to continually contend with when building a layout. Further I am rather sure that there is no rail available from any other source that matches the SHS rail perfectly. Of course Don could end this discourse to say what his acceptable tolerance is, and when his wonderful track will be available again!
