Gentleman, If you try Scale Coat sanding sealer on your wood kits you might be amazed and find it works. First of all you can sand one side and get a smoother finish and seal the other. Then you can paint to your hearts content. Thanks BC

Shellac dries quickly, can be painted over with any paint, is non-toxic, and is available in spray cans. One or two light coats are better than a heavy coat. The wood will not warp if sealed with shellac.
