I've used the PBL ones and also B.T.S. rubber hoses, part #02302. I used the BTS ones on my RS-1, which has had several rear-end crashes into other trains running on our HSG club layout. They work great and survive the crash. The hose is actually a bit too long, so I had to trim a bit of it off to keep the gland hands from dragging. But, better too long than too short. Also, rubber ones are great for allowing coupler swing (if you have really tight spots on your layout, like I have on mine).

Just in case other folks don’t know, PBL makes rubber air hoses (all the way
back to the brake line, complete with valve). I think a set of 8 is about
$7, but don’t quote me...

Have fun!

... I can't say the same thing though for air hoses, which I've knocked
off or broken plastic ones many times. Lately I've only been using the
rubber ones and they hold up fine when abused. ...
