I don't think Lionels SD70's, U33C's, Challengers and Y3a's(albeit with deep
flanges) is exactly rehashing the "old stuff." And while MTH has a little
catching up to do, they didn't go out and buy up SHS to surrender the S market
to Lionel.

There's a lot of guys in the 3-rail world doing modern, and while the stuff is
well detailed, it's not quite Exact Rail(who recently went factory direct only.
Does that say something?) or Athearn Genesis equivalent. And Athearn is still
cranking out the older, less detailed (along with some newer, better detailed)
stuff in their Ready-to-Roll and MDC lines.

While I appreciate the finely detailed equipment avaialable in the other
scales, I'd rather see ten average modelers, rather than one uber-modeler
attracted to S. Even if the ratio of Flyer/HiRail to Scale remains the same as
it is today.

Of course, in a perfect world, S would attract all eleven modelers.
