Hi Ed, I'm pretty sure it's deliberate as anyone smart enough to design and
manufacture an S loco should be able to read the trade news?
I have no idea why they would both want to make the same loco since there's
so many that haven't been made and would be good sellers.
SD40-2 , GP40, SD9, SW1500, not to mention the various Ge's and Alcos , and
Gensets :>) etc. Maybe they are just over estimating the appeal of those
Heritage paint schemes to the scale modeler? I doubt though that a large
percentage of even the modelers who call themselves "modern era" are actually
that interested in those newly painted large road locos? We tend to model at
least a generation behind the newest stuff to allow time for the market to
build an adequate supply. If I was buying an SD70 I'd want it in SP paint for
instance but I'd rather have an SD45 or SD45T-2 in SD paint.
Oh well hopefully they'll build some nice new freight cars for the new locos
to pull which is really all I need as I've got a GP35 and a GP9 which look fine
as branch line power.
Just struck me as funny when I read that they were planning an F-7 and my
first thought was wonder if they're also planning a jones and laughlin tank car
