   The point is to advance S scale it has to be seen as a stand alone modeling 
scale and not a toy train connected to flyer or now Lionel. 
 HO and N modelers don't care about the toy train roots or features, they just 
want well detailed models at a reasonable price and in a broad range of 
equipment. Maybe Athearn or some scale only manufacturer will move into S and 
fill the void if these toy train companies build up the interest a bit, but 
until S is thought of without thinking of Lionel or flyer it's not gonna make 
big inroads into the HO and N scale buyer's ranks. HO separated it's self from 
the toy train market in the 50's when Athearn and other scale stuff out sold 
fleishman and marklin and the other toy HO trains.The HO guys have been free 
from the toy train problem for over 50 years now. :>) ....DAveBranum
