Ben....

You might strike gold by checking the Kadee web site for their HO passenger car 
"swing bracket" which is a device that has a wider sideways swing and the 
standard HO coupler can fit into it.  Since the HO Kadee will mate with the S 
Kadee, you should (in theory) be able to make all your cars cooperate with each 
other.
