Ah Yes, today's version of that famed Egap Fable from Model Railroader of 1954.
when one father supposedly asked for a Lionel's Girl's Train, and asked so
many dealers for one that they thought they had a demand, and made a run of
them. Try to buy a Lionel Girls train today, the set was worth $400.00 in
1972, there was one displayed at the first NASG convention that year.

Because, if the sales volume for a nearly identical product is diluted
between two suppliers, they both might decide that it's not worth it to produce
more in the future.
