Howdy boB, I'm sure glad you picked something other than being a surgeon! I don't have an NW, but own several other SHS switchers. Normally I just unscrew the AC/DC board, unplug it and replace with either the DC shorting plug or a plug in decoder. Put the AC/DC board on E-bay and you might make enough to take your favorite girl to the Country Buffet! A plug isn't hi-tech, it's just a plug <G>!

Well, I got the offending plug out of the way with a pair of sidecutters and now have the NW-2 operational. Its doing a fine job on the CB&Q side of Mooar Yard, and after some running time should work well in that capacity. Although its overloaded with unnecessary technology, I have most of it disabled and it doesn't interfere with normal operation.

The last thing I have done is install the DC plug, per the instructions, so I can use it on SHABBONA. However, the plug I removed does not come out and is tied to a circuit board in the top of the body, and now there is such a glop of wires that I cannot get the body back on the frame. Worse, there is no way to place this plug so nothing binds. I wish I would have gone with an AM S12. I do not need this trouble.
