That's the famous bridge! I had shot from a much lower angle and probably closer. Jess had built in a pop-up to access the area but he made it for himself and Jess was not a 'wide' guy. When I got in position he was concerned that would damage the scenery. I think he mentioned that Peter Loeb had 'erupted' through that opening once. At the time, I was able to make that happen, but probably not today!

Hi Bob --

An amazing man in more than just the model railroading business. I was
fortunate to visit him (taken by the Chervens) in 2008. Photo of your
referenced bridge in action taken on that trip is attached.

Back in the modeling world where I was on one of the two shoots I did on
Jess Bennett's layout; we put his custom built FEF with some Overland
SD-40's I think--check out the article in either 3/16's or MR.

Jess had a 40 something car train of American Models boxcars. He brought
those down we put the power on and then he backed the train over a large S
shaped trestle. I had trouble believing that this was actually happening
without any buckling, string-lining or derailments of any kind. I was
imagining all those cars tumbling off that trestle--a great tribute to a
fine modeler!
