Comment (by SimonKing):
I am sorry for my long silence. The current 8% of regression in the
startup time is, of course, not good. But, as Nicolas has already said, he
might be able to improve the startup time in other places.
Also, I don't think that the suggested solution is final. In some posts
long time ago, I indicated some further ideas. However, the suggested
solution is certainly better (in the sense of "will scale better") than
the status quo. Hence, it would be silly to wait longer, just because one
could ''perhaps'' solve the issue with a different (and not necessarily
better) approach.
I have studied the code in the past, and it made sense to me. The doctests
work. Startup time regression has been taken care of in a different
ticket. And further improvements (performance and conception) may be done
in future. So, it seems good to go from my perspective.
Since I had such a long break, I think it would be fair that one declares
Frédéric's patch as review patch, he adds himself to the list of
reviewers, and changes it to a positive review (unless he finds further
problems, of course).
