I don't know.
On the one hand, this is strange, because I understood that William
successfully tested building the first package version on all machines in
his build park, and I thought this would also include an Intel Mac. And if
I am not mistaken, I did not change our C-MeatAxe adaptation since then.
On the other hand, when I tried to build an earlier version (not yet spkg)
on a Mac Book at the Sage Days in San Diego, C-MeatAxe was a problem as
well, and in fact the C-MeatAxe web site does not explicitly mention
support for OS X. From that point of view, I was positively surprised when
David Joyner first reported a successful build on some OS X machine.
Do you still get the same error,
{{{

/Applications/sage_builds/sage-4.1.1-binary/spkg/build/p_group_cohomology-1.1/src/lib/libmtx.a
os.o
ar rv

}}}
?
But what does it mean that libmtx.a is temporarily unavailable? Of course,
libmtx.a should eventually contain functions to link against. Can you see
from the protocol output whether ''some'' functions made it into libmtx.a?
Or is os.o and provile.o the first thing that is tried?
What happens if you try to install older version, say,
http://sage.math.washington.edu/home/SimonKing/Cohomology/p_group_cohomology-1.0.1.spkg
?
There is an experimental meataxe spkg, "meataxe-2.4.3". Does this build on
your Intel Mac? If this is the case, I may try to learn from its Makefile.
I think I will ask on sage-devel whether some Mac expert can help to hunt
the error down.
Best regards,
Simon
