 I see your point that e.g. python sets will use the comparison and its
 probably a bad idea to tinker too much with it. So I agree with you that
 we should keep it the way it is and make the `contains()` method throw an
 error if the argument is not in the N-lattice. Some warning in the toric
 lattices documentation might be good that '==' always compares objects and
 says nothing about equivalence.
