Thanks for paying attention to the Numpy trac ticket; that's more than I
was doing...
I'm trying it right now, but it's slow going because I know nothing about
shell. For instance, I just learned that `diff` has three different
possible options, and the third one was the one that Sage patches look
like - this took a half hour :(
I am trying to use `uname -r` to check for the Darwin version, but I don't
know what would happen on (say) Solaris with this command. David,
portability ideas? According to
[http://www.unixtutorial.org/commands/uname/ this] it seems okay.
