I've just recompiled LAPACK with {{{-march=native -mfpmath=sse}}} (by
adding this in the {{{sage_fortran}}} script) on the Pentium4 Prescott
(which has SSE3)... with that, the difference vanishes.
I still wonder what happens on PowerPC CPUs.
