I actually have an implementation for #8878 in the queue I had written two
years ago; however it's disabled because there remained quite some work
cleaning up Sage here and there for things to work smoothly.
So, yes, if you have a quick fix to the depth first search, please go
ahead; my patch certainly needs a lot of rebasing anyway.
