Are there really Catholic Exorcists in Goa? Really? I will take your word for it, Dilip. I know only of the People in Goa who "take out" Evil Eye using red chillies, salt & saying the Apostles Creed whilst doing so. I think there is some reference in the Bible on this but dont quote me please. The first time I came across schizophrenia in a Goan I knew way back in 1982, the treatment took the form of tablets which were administered by a Doctor at the Goa Medical College..... although at that time, some Goans thought it was "madness" of the first order. Those people are now living normal lives or as near as normal since schizophrenia can be controlled but not cured..... or am I wrong in what I have come across? Where did that sentence come from - first time I have heard or read about it, "Congress for Catholics & BJP for Hindus".....strange! But we have to play the "wait & watch" game. In the begining lots of people from across the border came to tell people that Gujerat is burning because they know we goans will be carried away by the words that flow from sacred mouth. I went on the net to really find out about Gujerat and found that what was said was not even half way true. There are villages in gujerat that looks like cities .Even Delhi may lack what I saw. Computers in the school, every house in a particular village had toilets . What we see in Goa is people build houses in fields and others just sit at the tinto and criticise. And having just read Pope Francis' speech to Catholic exorcists - yes, exorcists- in Rome, I personally wont waste my time reading him any more, even though he was recommended by our controller. Catholic exorcists still 'treat' schizophrenia in Goa and Brazil by exorcising spirits. They'd be gaoled if they tried those nasty tricks in secular scientific societies nowadays.
