Hi All,
and a very special thank you to Quentin, Annette,
and
Rico in particular - for being bigger and nobler in
your way of thinking than the narrow-minded
mentality
(for want of a better description) displayed by Alan
Fernandes. I'm truly amazed (and obviously,
ashamed)
that in this day and age we still have people who
think like he does!
Although I believe that most of you have/want to put
the matter of "Fr. Nasciment's Laptop" to rest, I
could not resist having my say - short as it will
be.
The only reason I did not join this discussion
earlier
was that, as I mentioned in my most recent e-mail to
Dilip/Saligaonet, the past few days have been
extremely busy. As a result, the only e-mail I
accessed was Dilip's because of the attached class
photograph - and obviously was completely out of the
loop regarding all this ridiculous 'making a
mountain
out of a molehill' type discussion, so thoughtfully
instigated by Alan.
Knowing Kevin for the past several years (as his
sister, and I believe I can speak on behalf of his
other sisters, too) I can vouch for the fact that
any
of his actions have never been for anything other
than
someone else's good, in other words, with the best
intentions; and that anyone should think otherwise -
and moreover, make a public declaration of it,
indicates the poor quality of some peoples thinking,
very sad to say.
As mentioned by some of you in the discussions that
went back and forth, Kevin realized his "mistake"
and
apologized for it. Again, we are all familiar with
the experience of trying to do something good, which
doesn't turn out the way we expected it to. In my
experience, when we are trying to give someone a
gift,
it is usually to try to give that person a pleasant
surprise, but unfortunately this offended Fr.
Nasciment. Again, our best intentions are not
always
accepted in the spirit in which they are meant, and
that truly is unfortunate. Anyway, as the saying
goes.....Life must go on.....So, having said my bit,
I
thank those of you who are capable of seeing the
good
intention behind a thought/gesture, because finally,
that IS what life is all about. For those of us who
may not know that yet, it's never too late to learn!
