I do have plans to allow fixed speed emulation (25%, 50%, 200%, etc.) for cases where you want a steady speed faster or slower than normal. In those cases there's no apparent speed change visible by programs running under emulation, just to the emulator user. Another option (available in some Spectrum emulators) is to vary the CPU clock speed. That would break timing sensitive demos, but give the equivalent of a CPU upgrade for general faster running. The current SimCoupe has a fairly rigid view of 6MHz CPU and 50fps framerate, so I'll have to do some general changes to relax that before the variable speed option can be supported. It has been on the cards for a long time now, but getting a stable multi-platform release out was always higher priority than adding new features. That can finally change now 1.0 is out! > Or would that still be tantamount to the accelerator emulation? Changing the CPU clock speed would give crude accelerator-like behaviour, but it's still quite far off the Mayhem's custom ROM and separate uncontended RAM. It wouldn't be of much use as a Mayhem development setup, except to see what your program can do with a chunk more CPU cycles. Si
