If not, you know that there will be forks of the current LGPL'ed libraries... Do we really need this?
Having commercial support is great, it's REALLY great, and I know of lots of my future customers who would buy it.
But I'm not going to develop software against a DB that forces me to release under GPL or forces my customers to buy MySQL AB licenses.
No way ;) and so thinks most people here ...
so ... don't allow a LGPL fork of the current libs and release the yours with that license.
Make your future customers (we) happy and we'll happily buy commercial support where needed!!!
Make your future customers (we) angry and we'll happily move to another OpenSource database. It's quite simple.

In the last few days, valid concerns have been raised about the possible negative effects of the agreement between SAP and MySQL. Over the next few weeks, we will be working on addressing these concerns.
