We are working on creating friendlier terms for the client libraries. We understand that people do have an option to fork if they are unhappy - this is acceptable to us. The fact that we give our community options to work against us if they are unhappy (and the fact that SAP has done the same) helps us be better citizens. We hope to make a compromise that suits everyone. We will fail! :) However, if we are lucky, we will find a solution that does not really hurt the community or our business. After the weekend, I will post more concrete information on what we are doing and ask for feedback on our ideas. Of course, I should be around on the weekend to answer questions - however, some of the other people on the MySQL SAP DB team have families that expect to see them at least a few days of the week.
