Dear Janusz, Thank you for the feedback! I think that we all agree that the SAP brand is well-recognized and respected. Their software is a key part of many of the world's largest organizations. Discarding the value of the SAP name would be as foolish as throwing the database itself away! We are working with SAP to ensure that people know the heritage of the database. Why should we rename it? My feelings on this are that we are the database company in this partnership - all of our energies are focused on developing and supporting databases. The future success (or possible failure) of the SAP DB technology will rest on our shoulders rather than SAPs - it should have our brand attached most strongly to it. Also, we are responsible - as a business, to our community, in a legally binding sense - for the SAP DB technology now. We can't keep calling it SAP *anything*. Also, please consider this from another point of view. While SAP DB is a has good brand value and a long heritage, it has experienced low levels of adoption in the community. The association of the technology with MySQL will introduce millions of users to the database via an interface that they know and understand. The potential for increasing the usage levels of SAP DB is quite tremendous. Cheers! -- Zak Greant MySQL AB Community Advocate _______________________________________________ sapdb.general mailing list [EMAIL PROTECTED] http://listserv.sap.com/mailman/listinfo/sapdb.general
